Mr A and the Rent Review

Mr A wanted to carry out a refurbishment of his Newsagent but was reluctant to commit himself due an impending rent review. The landlord had proposed a substantial increase of some 20% which, if applied, would mean that he would not be able to afford the refit. We assisted in negotiating a 5% increase and sister company Commercial PLUS arranged finance for the refurbishment. Mrs B and the 50k rental

We were contacted by Mrs B who along with her husband runs a medium sized engineering business from an industrial unit in the Midlands. At the last rent review her rent went up from £43,000 up to a whopping £50,000 per annum. Since that review three years ago, almost 30% of the businesses on her estate have closed and rents have become depressed as a result. Mr C and the case of the missed lease renewal

Mr C was a very worried retailer when he first contacted us. His landlord, an elderly gentleman in his 80’s had simply forgotten that their previous lease had expired in September 2008 and in December his agent approached our client with a very hefty rent increase backdated to September.
